Cosmoline?

Having recently been occupied with removing a good bit of gooey earwax-like cosmoline made me wonder: Has anyone tried using this stuff straight as a soft lube?

Bee of good cheer, for you are in luck. Yes, it has been tried and with varying success. If you have good luck, you can buy more new Cosmoline from Brownell's.

I saw that. It's $11 or $12 for 12 oz. They're proud of it. I don't think the folks who packed away my old milsurps paid that much. I might just have to buy another Turkish Mauser whenever I run low. Roll the boolits over it and load 'em up.
