Hello Gents,

I got .432 Ranch dog's mold from the last/fixed batch. The boolits come out of the mold with pure WW water dropped between .433 and .435. Also used Lee Alox.
I did not size nor did I GC'ed them. I made some test loads with BlueDot from 12.7 gr to 14.7 gr. I tested them with my Marlin 1894SS. They shot like SH!T. WOW
I shot some also in my .44 Super Blackhawk and the accuracy was very nice even at 50 yards. Awesome at 25. I guess the load was too hot for my Marlin. Did not check the bbl, but I am sure it will be full of lead. I guess I gotta gascheck!!!

Anyone of you has a spare Lee sizer for .432 or .433?

Cheers,
Mad

I've found very FEW loads that work the same out of my Redhawk AND my 1894S. I find that I can find some 'compromise' loads that work within reason out of both, but not spectacular. Each firearm requires it's 'own' load to become optimal. I would suggest trying some other powders with this bullet and the 1894S.

Good luck!

Thanks.
I forgot to mention I also used loaded some using 19gr of H110. Same results - bad.

I am not trying to make a load that shoiots well with both 1894 and Blackhawk, I just checked it in both this time.

Cheers,
Mad

Hey mad,
Ya gotta slug the barrel. Ya gotta use a check with that kind of BlueDot load. Me thinks that .435" is a tad too big. I sized mine down to .431 for my Marlin .444 and now finally .432" for my Ruger rifle. I shot some loads with that bullet that put them inside 3/4" @ 50 yds from a .44 mag. rifle with 17.5 gr. 2400 and the same with 19.5 gr. H-4227. According to Lee tester, the hardness is around 19BHN and I shot those things all the way up to 46 gr. H-4198 out of the .444 with micro-groove, one coat of liquid alox and pretty damn accurate. I'll bet you will get better results once you find out what your gun likes. Keep on plugging and you'll get it dialed in I'll bet. Sorry, don't have a spare .432". Honed mine out & hit it just right @.432". Have a Lyman sizer for the .431".

Thank you, sir. You just said what I was thinking about. Gonna go tomorrow to a local reloading shop to see if they have gaschecks.

Thanks,

Maddy,

Might be lead. And then again you might not have any leading. Reads like you were shooting the same loads in both the 44 Mag and 444 cases. If so, the 444 would have much lower pressures than the handgun being a longer case. So pressure isn't the culprit. Are you sure you got all the copper out of the rifle? Just sounded a bit .... wild from your description to have no reason other than a missing GC.

DJ,

No wonder I can't get one in mine then!

How did I read that to think 444? Man o man. Maybe I read it correctly and just forgot it by the time I was typing the response.

Yes Sir re. Pat Marlin taught me everything I used to know!

You got to gas check them boolits I guess and possibly try a different powder... check out LET-CA's post...

You are also going to have to order a sizer to install those gas ckecks.....the size of the sizers?...depends on the size of your chamber throat and groove dia......Lee and Buckshot sell the push thru sizers....It is a custom order from Lee as they don't list it in their catalog......

Custom sizers from Lee are only $25 and well worth the investment. Order by telephone.

Thank you gentlemen.
I just got a pack of Hornady GC's from a local shop.
Will try the next weekend and will report back.
I also will paper-patch a few to see if that corrects the problems as well.

Cheers to all and thanks for helping out.

Mad.
