I'm getting a 50 BMG rifle soon and wanted to know if anyone has shot cast boolits in one?

I plan to shoot plinking loads for the most part, and maybe some long range stuff later on. The 750gr AMAX will be the long range boolite.

Thanks for you help.

Anything short of 1000 yards without the 750 grainer would be a waste. That gun should have a 16 twist, 512 groove, barrel if specs are followed. Bare in mind that lessor boolits cannot be shot faster for the same accuracy unless the range is considerably smaller. ... felix

Shot some in my State Arms target gun. It had a 1-9 twist. Worked well with the 900gr spitzer bullets at about 1800fps and a 650gr slug at about 2000fps. Tried speeding them up, but they would disintigrate at about the 40yd line. Guess too much rotational stress. Haven't tried them in my AR50 yet, but will get to it next year. Loaded 4895 for the cast bullets.

Here is that bullet from Jim at CBE .
You talking about draining a 90 pound pot fast !!!! Holy smokes 7 bullets is almost a pound !!!!
I know a couple people that use this bullet in their 50 BMG not sure what type or model of 50 BMG ??
These are 975 GRAIN FNGC .

Thanks for the post.

I found a 650gr 512 round nose boolite in the Midway cat that may work for some light loads. I'll get the rifle in 30 to 60 days as I'm getting it made to order.

I"ll be looking from good load date soon,

Thanks again.

I have about a 680 to 690 gn boolit from NEI. It's in the dd style with a gas check.

I got my press and dies for the 50BMG this week. The 50 takes one heck of a big reloading die.

Thanks to everyone who posted, Ranger Rick has some real big cast boolits for me to try at some point.

This is an old link but I am also acquiring a new rifle. I am curious to know if there are any new info for the 50BMG with cast bullets?

One more bump... looking for the ideal bullet for shooting cast out of 50 BMG. Also interested in any load data and recommendations for shooting cast out of something that large.

I have one good working load with the 975 .
I will cut and paste what he sent me .

"Hey! I wanted to let you know I finally shot a few of your 975gr out of my 50 BMG. They did ALOT better than I expeced! I'm getting between 1"-1.75" groups at 500yds! (Although it took some serious adjusting of my scope from the 661gr I've been shooting) I'm using cci #35 primers and 200 grains exact of Hogdon 50BMG powder. I'd like to go a little hotter with the next batch I buy from you . Also the .500 dia are still working great out if the .50AE and the 500 S&W "

Thats all I have .
Enjoy and make smoke.

HERE'S (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130289760826) an NEI 780 grain .50 cal mold on eBay for $130 + $12 shipping. It ends in less than 5 hours.

That one is a plain base, seems like it would be a good plinker with a case full of Trailboss:-D

Contact Bruce B. He shoots cast in a .50 bolt rifle.

The first photo shows him holding a round at the Rools Committee meeting at this year's Nevada Cast Boolit Shoot. The caption above the photo is for humor.
