I might have scored today. went to a "Junk" yard and found a drum of new lead sheeting, it's about 1/16 inch. I asked for a price. It came to .75 cents a lb. as that was being weighted out, I asked about any wheel weights. yes, that had a few. Actuall they didn't have enough to sell. but they had three one lb. bars of solder. I asked them to put those with the lead sheeting. they did( at .75 cents a Lb.) the whole thing came to 115 lb.s for under $85.00(At the last gun show(pasadena Tx.) I paid 75.00 for 60 lb.s of Range lead in lyman bars. NOw about all I need are a few more bars of 60-40 or 50-50 solder and I'm good for a bit.
I read a lot of peoples notes on this forum this morning and I learned a lot. So far I'm pouring 230gr. .45's, 200SWC. in .45,a 300 gr's .45 with GC. 9mm and .40 cal. All with 6 hole molds. (ok, I've got .44,.41, 160 SWC .38 and 148 gr. WC. in two holers.
I wish they were all 6 holers.
ANy of you lead heads around the Houston area??

.................That's a good start on a lead supply, but you'll be surprised how fast it disappears. Keep your eyes open.

Buckshot's right, I used to think a 5-gallon bucket of WW would last me for years, now one lasts about three months.

The scrap yards can be a good source of lead if you keep stopping by to see them. Our local guy ships his out every time he gets over 100 pounds, so I stop over every Tuesday on the way home from the range. Sometimes I snag 100# and other times it's only 10#. But I always get something, and it adds up. I'm luckier then you though. He's only charging me 50 cents a lb.

Keep your eyes open is the way to be. I found about six oz of ww on the ground today. Never mind looking for spare change

Good luck in your quest, my friend. I started casting in Feb of 2009 and i've amassed a pretty nice lead stash by staying alert and buying a little here and there.

Pictured below is about 1/3rd of my stash:
