Hi Guys; Does anyone out there know about Lyman 311413. I have some old boolits
from this mould, and would like to try somein my '06's. My Lyman books do not give any assistance...Thanks, Bigmac

Mac, from Ideal Handbook #37.

Quote "311413. The Squibb gas-check bullet for the Springfield and other 30-06 rifles. Perhaps the most accurate gas- check bullet yet produced. Excellent for target practice up to 600 yards. Has also been largely used for small game shooting in the Northwest. Powder charge 16 grains DuPont 4759 powder"

i get good luck with this bullet when driven to about 1400 fps.As i approach 1500-1600 accuracy seems to degrade a bit.I like 10-12 of Unique or the same charge of Trail Boss in the 30-06.Actually any fast pistol/shotshell powder in a charge range from 7g-12g will work fine.

Alignment is important with bore riders with substantial nose length. Boolit runout can make or break a group. Just something to be aware of.

I use them in my .308 with 2400 powder and they work real well. But I couldn't get much accuracy above 1400 fps as Damron g said.

This was a really popular bullet back in the day when it was still in production, as it duplicated the shape of the GI ammo. The problem is/was when users tried to drive it fast (anything much over 1600fps), the bullet tilted in the bore and the accuracy was not so good. if one keeps the velocity in the moderate range it can be an accurate shooting design. +1 on accurate with mild loads. I have not tried anything above around maybe 1600.
Good in Krag and K31 for me.

Very accurate bullet at low velocity (<1,500 fps). It is best run in my experience with 13 or fewer grains of Unique. I have had best results with it seated to just chamber when sized .311.

Check out the thread a while back from Ben. He had some pretty nice groups with this boolit.
