I came across this site (http://www.tejassmokers.com/castironburners.htm) today, and instantly realized the potential. While most of us are looking to use the cast iron burners, Felix and Sundog, who have complained about the long heat times for the MOAS, might wanna look at the jet burners - they sell ones that will put out almost 900K BTU.:holysheep Unfortunately, they're also almost $500.

I was particularly interested in the "adjustable" neck cast iron burner, as if you have three of them arranged in a triangle, you can put one all the way in the back, and have the airshutter in the front.

I think 3 160K BTU burners oughta do the job nicely.

900K BTU is more in line with my thoughts too. Might even make MOAS enjoyable to use. Well, not really, because we need more hosspower to make that thing worth while. No kidding, a couple of tons of WW would be no challenge for the pot on a daily basis, making participants the limiting factor. ... felix

The problem I see with that kind of output, is, well.. What do you use to power the thing? From the top of my head, a 20/40lb tank will only put out 180K or so at 80F, and a 100lber would only do a little over 300K at the same temp. That means that you'd need a bulk tank for supply, both because of delivery rate, and the total volume you'd wind up using.

There prices seem a little high - We have an Agri Supply near by and there prices for the same type of burners is a lot less.

Well, I found this place (http://www.bayouclassicdepot.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=1636) and this place (http://www.turkey-frying.com/BG10_propane_burner_part.htm), they have burner parts that are cheaper. However, they don't offer a two piece design like the first one. I think I can convert them to use a black pipe extension though, should be fairly straight forward, with a tap and a mill. The question is, is it worth it, for $30? If you have the tap, and the mill, and probably the lathe, then yeah. If I have to buy a tap for $70 to save $30 versus buying it, then it isn't worth it.

I bought the adjustable length neck burner from an outfit in the cajun state in febuary. It is a great unit, melts big batches of WW quick.
