How is the easiest way to reform 30-06 to 308 Win?

Imperial size wax. on case. then about thirty strokes on the press. just a little at a time. Wiping off lube that will build up as the die pushes down along the case. Then you have to cut off the neck and probably inside ream it our outside turn it.

Since 06 brass is much harder to come by now days than 308 . Trading it for some 308 would save some work if you have lots of it.

Get a trim die (e.g. Redding 83227 or RCBS 15565) lube the outside of the neck & shoulder, run the longer case through the die to the desired length and trim off the excess (hacksaw and file) then chamfer/deburr and square the mouth with a case trimmer. Now ready for your 308 Win dies. Seems like a lot of cases are shorter than I like - you can tailor the case length to your chamber if you take the time and have the tools.
On the other hand, want to swap some 30-06 for 308 Win?

Seriously, a much better option. Besides shortening, the case neck will have to be reamed as it will thicken as you form it thru the die. Just swap it for 308 or buy ince fired. Unless your time is worth nothing, a better bet.

Yes, your neck will be thicker but check your chamber, you may not need to ream the neck if you have the clearance, and the cartridge may center better.
Now if your project gun is a wildcat like a .358 Bellm Rimless (.358 x 54) it may be worth all the fuss.

I would rather swap brass. The necks were thicker usually on one side more than the other.
