Scrap sailboat keels, junkyards (WW's off junk wheels), dentists (lead foil off x-ray film), roofers, old print shops...

It can be a pretty discouraging hunt. You might try any place that sells truck tires. I got a lot from roofers.

Gun ranges for reclaimed lead and don't forget Skeet ranges too. One of the best is put the word out to everyone you know. You'd be surprized where some comes from.

Recyclers.

Yes, an excellent source. Also check with building remodelers. They often throw away old lead roof sheathing and lead pipe. Keep an eye out for fishing sinkers and car battery terminal connectors (but not the insides of batteries. Thats a no-no)

Talk to plumbing contractors
Not only for shower pan's , but if they pull out cast iron pipe
Every joint has between 1 and 3 lb of lead in it

I traded beer for some and just got the OK to break the joints on all the rest of the scrap pipe they have waiting to be recycled

Talk to contractors that rehab X ray rooms
As there is sheet lead glued to the drywall

Roofing contractors get a lot of lead and some just throw it in the trash.

With copper phone lines being replaced with fiber optic lines the copper lines are being removed and sent to China. Talking to contractors doing the removal the lead sheathing is of next to no value. Find out where they are stripping the sheathing and you may have some fairly pure lead for cheap.
