I often hear Red Dot listed here as a good powder for light loads for CB rifles. What about Green Dot ? I always have a ton of that on hand because my other terrible addiction is skeet, and Green Dot will handle 4 of the 5 gauges I shoot. Red Dot has more limited applications in the shotgun world.

I have gotten good results in the .30-30 and 7.7 Jap, and while not the best choice it is acceptable for plinker type loads in the '06.

I like to keep the powder inventory as simple as possible and buy larger quantities of fewer powders, so the ability to serve many needs is a real strong selling point for me.

I used a ton of Green dot for pistol ctgs. I tried it in 30-30 and 30-40 but I don't remember now how it was, that was some years ago. I am kind of cheap and when someone gives me powder I find a use for it. I will check back and see what I had on Green Dot.

PatrickL, I really like Green Dot for light plinking loads in rifles and medium loads in .44 Magnum.

Patrick, GD is one of my 'go-to' powders for fire forming 30-06 with cast. Ten grains works purdy good, and it's even fairly accurate, at 50 yards anyway. Since I always have some on hand for 12 guage and generally have some cull boolits (yea, not ALL of my boolits are perfect, but darn close) it makes an inexpensive way to get a new batch of cases ready. sundog

Patrick, I use it in the 7x57 Mauser. At 10.3 grains ( Lee 1.3cc scoop) with the RCBS 168-SP boolit, groups are around 1.5" at 50 yds. This is the only distance I've tried it at and the only load that has given me any accuracy with this rifle so far...Ray
