....seating die with adjustable neck diameter insert.

It's easy enough to get a custom expander plug/rod or to modify one to needed diameter, but that's for nought if you then stuff your chubby cast bullet into a stock seater and get it jammed in the neck area... or it doesn't get jammed but the seater sizes it down significantly.

Sure, you can lap out the seater neck but unlike replaceable expander balls, once that's done, it's done and you need a new die body to return to the original size.

So my idea is a seater die with a standard diameter chamber area but a cut off at the case neck, with threaded tops to accomodate whatever diameter bullet you care to use. So for a 30-06 for instance, one top for .308 jacketed bullets, one for .309, one for .310, etc., on up to whatever you need.

Wouldn't be too hard to make. A standard die cut off at the top of the shoulder with the outside threaded (male threads) and the top portion threaded (female) with the neck area to screw on..... the die body would be a one time buy, you could buy the top caps as needed. Then a standard seating stem would screw in the top.

What do you think?

Just have seating stems made for the Redding bushing neck size dies then order bushings in the diameters needed. Then you can use one die for neck sizing and seating.
