I'd like to use a Cramer style cast hollowpoint in my 1911, sized to .451" diameter. Are there any commercial boolit casters making hollowpoints?

THis is just to tease you. Sorry, I don't know any commercial casters that make them, but I enjoy my results. The 1st one is 45acp/215grLHP, FWIW< you'll want 0.452" if you find someone liscened to cast them for you.

Go to the "group buy" area of this website, MiHec makes great brass Crammer style molds . . .I think he has a 200 grainer for you now, buy it and start casting your own!

I know that the company that makes those copper clad bullets do. Never fired any so can't say how they work.

Unfortunately, my 1911 will not chamber a cartridge with a .452" diameter boolit. The chamber is just too tight. It will chamber .452 boolits if I run them through a Lee factory crimp die, but this sizes the boolits down to .451 anyway and I don't see the point of doing the extra work when I can start out at .451 to begin with.

Anyone know if Mihec plans to make a 6 cavity 45 HP mould? I already don't have enough time to do any reloading, if I'm going to get into casting I'm going to want to do as much as possible as quickly as possible.

If you just want practice bullets, any 200-230gr cast bullet will do. If you are looking for home gronw SD bullets, a 2cav Cramer style will produce more than enough. ERik @ HPMS converted the Lyman 230grRN to that 215gr bullet shown. I can cast 200+ in an hour. For practice, I just shoot 200grLSWC or 200grLTC.
You might try swithcing to RP brass & a 0.452" bullet. I find their brass a bit thinner, could eliviate the pesky LFCD.
