Pulled from the 38/357 chamber thread.

Long throat? Atleast your 45-70 cylinder has the proper size throat from the end of the case.
I was messing around with a Rexio 45/410 single shot shooting some 230BD45's in 45 colt cases, so the bullet had to go through a couple of inches of 3" 410 case sized throat until it hit the rifleings. There is a ridge where the 45 colt is supposed to stop, but a 454 round will chamber:0

Shot at 25 yds, but was still a big suprise on how it shot.
8gns Red Dot, I didn't chrono them, but should be going around 1150ish.
I checked out their website and they are supposed to have a scope mount for these.

I took a chamber cast of the Rexio 45-410 single shot pistol. I picked up 2 ingots from mountian molds. It is soo handy to have around and answers those questions about ....
I used a shotgun cleaning rod section with a patch on the end of it to seal off the bore. I leave the patch about 1" down into the rifleings. That way you get a perfect picture of the leade and rifleing.
Big suprise on the bore and groove dimensions. .441 x .448"!
The 45 Colt section of the chamber measures .482" at the base down to .481" the mouth. The problem with this is the length is 1.36" and will let a 454 Casull round slip right in. (If anyone wants to send me $150 for a new pistol, I'll strap it to the bench and take a video while the trigger gets pulled by a string!)
It has a clean step, then is .470" for the next .5"ish.
It then has a fairly smooth taper down to .455" @ 2.66" and stays that way till 2.9".
The lead is .1" long and tapers from .455" down to the bore and groove of .441" x .448" at a clean 3.00" length.
The 230 BDs I shot were from air cooled WW and sized to .454". I'm guessing that anything shot in this gun should be fairly soft to allow it to swage down as it goes. The barrel did have some lead fouling, but I guess I shouldn't be suprised at that.

I have a couple boxes of the CBC 410 brass cases.
Cartrige, Length, Base, Neck.
45 Colt, 1.28", .476", .475"
454 Casull, 1.367", .477", .476"
410 CBC, 2.345", .472", .462"
444 Marlin 2.19", .464" -I guess if a person was to use 444 cases, they should wrap a piece of tape around the base until it fits snug in the chamber to center it. Then the case will blow out past that to fill the chamber and keep everything centered. (I think I heard that from 44 Man?).

I guess it looks like the bullet has to go 1.3" until it reaches the .455" section.
Also the chamber is terribly rough. It has very deep machining grooves the whole length from rim to leade. The rifled section is very crisp and shiney.
From looking at their website, it looks like they come in 22 lr and 22 mag. I think they should add 357 and cut a smoother chamber. I'll see if I can get any pics of the chamer to come out.

It sounds like they did their homework on the chamber dimensions but why the small bore is beyond me. I wonder what a .410 slug would do.
Too bad it is so rough, not good on a boolit.

Braunal makes some nice little zinc coated steel cased sabot slugs you NEED to try in that rexio/commanche rig of yours. I use em in an old stevens 58 with bent bolt, and scope mount. Beats the berries off any slug built by fedremchester for speed and accuracy. They will sometimes be called brown bear or some such thing like that, mine have a bunch of writing on the box I cannot read. They are berdan primed, but non corrosive, and JUST PLAIN SHOOT, why the sabot works in a smooth bore is beyond me, but in that pistol of yours they may just put a big smile on your face...they are available in 2.5 and 3 inch. I bought a case of em from the sportsmans guide awhile back, and I wish I had bought more. They look like a galvanized berdan primed .444 marlin..

How about if 150 of us send a buck each? I'd like to see a video of the hammer dropping on a full tilt .454 round......:-D

That'll work!
I may have to build some blast cages for the video cameras to survive.

I'll have to dig out my sportsmans guide and see if I can find the 410 Sabots.
