Hello,

These things

are really sorta' accurate:

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b191/WabashShootist/Guns/reloading/8b4ccd50.jpg

238gn LRN-FP over 5.2gn of AA#2 fired by a Winchester LPP.

Distance was 15yds.

I tried for an even better group, without the flier, but my hand was feeling weak from an afternoon of casting, reloading and shooting trying to get these things right.

Should be good bunny and critter medicine, too.

That's respectable shooting for ole slab sides. BTW, technically, that is a truncated cone FP, not RNFP.

+1 and that 230gr tc is fast becoming my favorite 45acp slug. Even my XD likes it and it feeds well in all my 1911s and my Taurus Mil Pro ccw rig. I was afraid the nose would lock the slide back on my 1911s but it doesn't.

After three years in business, the Lee 230gr TC bullet (normal lube groove) is still my #1 seller.

A friend gave me some of these with a "real " lube groove. They do function well and accuracy is great. I want to pick up the mold in a 6cav.

I have one of these molds on the way. What are some popular loads?

I shoot 5.2g W231, OAL was little tricky from my Colt Combat Elite. 1.22" was too long, 1.20" hung up occasionally, 1.18" to 1.19" seems to be just the ticket. I need more field testing on the shorter OAL. Another thing, I have the traditional lube version, 6 cav. Man does that thing cast like a dream, perfectly filled out booolits seem to jump right out. In a hurry too I might add.

Lets hear some more favorite loads WITH OAL listed. Happy shooting.

6gr WSF set to 1.20.

That LEE mold has long had a reputation for excellent accuracy in a wide variety of guns. If someone wants a general-purpose 230gr 45ACP bullet, that's a very good one to start with.

I use 5.0 W231, OAL at 1.20". Very accurate, although I often prefer a 200gr swc for paper shooting.

I like around 5.5gr of Unique with mine. Now that I have the 200gr MiHec HP I may not be using this one much, should have gotten the 6 banger...

I have that mold in a 6 banger and my xd's and 1911's eat em' up no problem. I normally load 5.7gr. Unique and find it quite accurate.

I shoot an exact trunacated cone FP bullet @ .358 in my Marlin 1894 cowboy and again it proves to be just the ticket.
