I don't see why not. I bet the Lee 312 155 would be just right for it.

Isn't the 30 Remington a rimless 30-30 Winchester?

If so that long neck should really do cast well just not sure I'd put it in an AR platform partly because of brass loss.

If I became "posessed" and had to have an AR wildcat I think I might look around and see if a long necked version of the 300 whisper was around.

I'm thinking 222 Mag brass long 30 cal neck like the 30-30 and a stock AR bolt in the 223 class action.

Just some thoughts that have floated through my head a time or two.

Actually I believe the 30 AR is based on the 50 Beowulf with a smaller rim, probably so you couldn't easily or cheaply build one from available parts and just a barrel.

I have only $1,000 in my 50 Beowulf and that is with a Stag Lower and MagPul accessories.

If it is based off o the same idea almost any AR-15 lower should work.

You fellow don't have it right. The 30 AR is based off the 284 case. It has a .500 web. So it fits the AR10 or 308 bolt face. That means that the barrel extension is AR10 or 308 size. The upper is a hybrid between an AR15 and AR10. The bolt carrier is an AR15 one as is the bore through which it rides. The upper is thicker, but not quite as thick as an AR10, and of course it is shorter because it does fit all AR15 lowers.

Cartidge length will be an issue if you start using heavier bullets. The cartridge was designed to work around an AR-15 platform with standard AR-15 magazines. I doubt you'd be able to squeeze much more in there than maybe a 150gr bullet. If you planned to shoot cast through it, you'd be limited on bullet selection to the lighter bullets, think 30 carbine or 7.62x39 weights/designs.

The 30 Remington AR round makes me ask - why? and what do you want it to do that other more commonly available cartridges can't do? I look at it and think it is about the same as a 7.62x39 and those are already available for AR's. If you just want a larger AR cartridge, get a 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC, these are already proven designs and a little more commonly available. Personally, I'd stick to something readily available. That is unless you just like the odd/wildcat type designs or just have some money burning a hole in your pocket. Just my highly biased and uneducated opinion...

Because it makes it a bonofide deer hunting cartridge in a small AR15 accurate package. It's much more then the 7x62x39 and more then the 30-30 too with it's 125 grain bullet.

I was thinking for multiple pig shots.

Starmetal you are correct, I was mistaken, it is based on the 450 bushmaster which was based on the 284. lol, knew it was ONE of those big bore AR cartridges.

If I'm not mistaken I do believe the 450 Bushmaster round has a smaller base on it.
