New aquisition and ?

Got one of the nicest casting molds I have ever got off Fleabay last week. Its a 240gr 41 mold that casts right at 241 gr and exactly at .411. This is with ww. Now the question, really wanted a gc mold but this is plain based. Will the 416 gc fit on this mold and is it feasible to check a plain base? Anyone ever try it? :castmine:

Some guys turn a gas check shank on them and apply checks. I freecheck some plain base designs myself. Why don't you try them as is, you may be surprised how well they work.

Is this the Lee 410-240SWC? If so, I've shot a bunch of them thru my M657 with very little to no leading at all. It's a decent enought boolit when loaded with 16.5gr of AA9.

Yes, its the Lee. It shocked me that it casts so nice. They even fall out when I open the handles. Perfectly round. Not bad for 15 total. Its just that my barrel is a little touchy. What kind of speeds are you getting with that load?

Not a clue as I'm such a bad shot that I'm afraid to shoot my handguns over the chrony[smilie=1: However, I do manage to sneak in 2" or better groups at 25 yards shooting from a rest. I think that with better eyes or even a scope, those groups would improve some. IIRC, I have about 15.00 invested in my mold as well.
