In the spirit of all the shooters that started with the 22 and got blessed into the shooting culture I hereby open this area to discussion of the rimfires.

Thanks Ken. My Ruger 77/22 loves CCI Green Tag. I was at my closest range last year and had this smart alec that would shoot my target one or twice to mess up groups. When I shot the fancy metal tacks he used to put up his target he quit bothering me. Gotta lover accurate and fun rimfires!

Yep, have a CLARK CUSTOM RUGER 77/22 which is one sweet shooter!

It is a bit heavy with the .920 Walther barrel, but it really shoots very well.

257 shooter, the jerk is lucky you just shot the tacks on his target, but sounds like you quickly proved your point.

Green tag has not been the favored ammo for my CRuger, but it really loves some of the Wolf, the old Olympics version of the Fed Gold medal Match, Eley, Lapua and some of the more reasonably priced products as well.

Keep em coming!

CDOC,

If I decided to really get serious I would like to try the more expensive .22 amo but I have had a hard time justifing 22.00 per 50. The Green Tag has provided dozens of head shots and meat in the pot is meat in the pot. I love to ear squirrel.

257,

Price doesn't always make the best ammo for your .22.
.22's are more finiky than anything......you have to try them all, to be fair....and more than once. I have one that shoots .453x.253(8shots) @100yds with Lapua Midas L ($15/50), but will shoot Aguila Target .750(5shot) @100 (5shot@100) yds($3/50)
Both were shot without weighing, or rim thickness gauge...shot right out of the box.

I really like SK Standard Plus. $4.50 per 50 rounds. The target shows the Standard Plus and the Match which was $2.00 more per box. I shot this out of my 39A with a 6.5X20 Luepold on it.

Of course, every gun is different.

Without question, the high end .22s are might fine ammos.

However, as stated, a 22 is a rule unto itself and will choose what it likes best.

I think it is Wolf Match extra that gets the nod from my Mark II Slabside, shooting a clip full into a ragged hole at 25yds.

Have a 2X Leupold mounted on that one, paralax set to 25yds. by the factory.

The CRuger has a 3x9 Leupold EFR and although it does OK with some typical over the counter .22s, one old Fed. round as I recall does very well, it really groves on the mid to high end products.

I can relate to not buying the 20+ dollar ammo as a normal thing, but I just wanted to see how well the really good stuff shot, so Eley, Lapua, the old/great Fed Gold medal match are fun to shoot.

Picked up a brick of the Fed Gold medal match when it was still available, and wish I had picked up all that was available. My oh my it shoots tiny groups.

The single group I have fired with good ammo at 100yds was with the Fed match ammo, and 9 out of ten went into 3/4". Guess I should try that again.

well, I ain't got nothing fancy, but I have one of those old Martini single shot drop blocks that came with a set of Parker-Hale target sights. will shoot one hole groups @25 yards with most any ammo. bought at a gunshow about 25 years ago $275.00, which was a lot of bucks back then. ain't a toteing gun as it weighs about 12 pounds. but it shoots OK off the bench.
Kinda seems like the older I get, the Heavier it gets.

Six or eight???????????????? whoooooooooooooooa.

I have ONLY 3, so according to the obamanation and Palucy, you needed to equalize things out a bit.

8 (yours) + 3 (mine) = 11 divided by 2 = 5 1/2.

Which 2 1/2 are you sending me in the intrest of being P.C.?

In realitity, 1/2 is 5 or over, so it rounds up to the next whole number, so just make it an even THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!! :kidding::kidding:

Thoght I was day dreaming when I spotted this board.
thanks 1
nothing fancy at all,box stock ruger 10-22..oh wait, did do a trigger on it...but it's fun and CHEAP to shoot, and when reloading stuff evaporated,I had enuff .22s on hand to at least shoot SOMETHING once in a while.

minute of tin can is my goal, and the ruger does it all day long. Tain't the best, but it keeps on ticking.

If it is a sin to shoot rimfires, I think we are all in bad shape. Thanks for moving the threads.
