What are your thoughts/experience with Starline brass. I havnt heard much about them but their prices look very reasonable for new brass.

Brass I am looking at is 44mag.

It's good stuff.. I have gotten a few starline certificates over the years competing and have some in 38 spl and 38 super. A lot of people swear by their brass (as opposed to swearing at it). I know several ppl who have used their oddball cartridges (9x21, 9x23, 356 TJ, 38 Short colt, 38 long colt, etc) and all of them are happy with it.

Hi, Starline brass is one of the best kept secrets around. Its good solid brass and reasonably priced. More and more folks are going over to it. I have ordered from them several times and the response has always been quick and courteous. They are not only cheaper on their prices, but they have picked up the shipping costs. In some cases (no pun intended) the brass has been uniformly thicker/stronger to some extent. They are cheaper than Midway on prices for their brass. Its easiest to punch them up on line and either order that way or go to their toll free phone. So ordering direct from them is the way to go. LLS

I've ordered 45-70 brass from them twice both on back order and both orders showed up early.
Good stuff.

I've got 500 of the 44mag, no problems so far, only reloaded 3X so far, I didn't know I could order direct from them . . .

you do need to adjust the load a bit for them. maybe 1/2 grain.
i know in some they have an ever so slight case capacity reduction.
it's my go to case for high end 45 colt loads.

When I first started shooting .45 Colt a lot I ordered 1000 pcs of Starline. I can't tell you exactly how many times some of them have been loaded but it's a lot. They hold up extremely well. I use Starline in .44 mag with the same results. The bad thing is they do get backordered since their in such demand. FB

In for some cases they are the only game in town.
I load for 9mm largo and 7.62x25 and have been very impressed with Starline's products. I am sure I will lose all of the 7.62x25s before I wear them out, the cz52's sure chuck em a long way.

Black Hills ammo uses it in most if not all of there pistol ammunition.

From using there 45LC brass, it seems to be pretty heavy, so it should last me quite a few reloads.

I've got it in .357, .44 mag, and 45/70. You should also order it directly from them if you want the best price and no shipping.

Went to the Starline for my, new to me, 45/70.

Brass price from Buffalo Arms was close to half the cost of - Winchester/Remington - brass from Cabela's or Midway.

Whats not to like with that, considering all the great reviews Starline seems to get.

Haven't ordered direct, but everyone says that is also a winner.

Buy the way, I had good service from Buffalo Arms here in Ideeeeeeho.

Keep em coming!

500 44mag brass Just arrived today. When I ordered them last week, they were back ordered until 16 June. Shipped on 16 June to my surprise. I think 750 casings may be a lifetime supply for me...dont think I have a single factory round left in my locker, other than about 15 Hornady 300gr XTPs.

Good brass, good price, long back order time. I have 20,000 pieces each .380 and 10mm brass prepaid from September 2009 that still hasn't arrived yet.:(

I'm on ten reloads on some .45 Colt cases, also had good luck with their nickel-plated stuff, up to five reloads on some with nary a flake so far. I won't buy anything else unless it's used and really cheap.

Starline is good brass although some need to be shot once or twice at low to mid house loads to harden them up a bit. They seem a bit soft at first to me and I've had some neck splits with fullhouse loads. I find myself shooting them easy first go a round and then off to the races.

I use it in my .38 shorts and it has worked better than any brass I've tried before. Normally I can only get 10 reloads before the primer pockets are worn out. With Starline I'm into the
20s on my cases with no problems.

I still have a case of Reminton brass for my .38 but I'll probably switch to Starline when needed in a few years. My light load .38s last forever.

Rob S, You have your facts reversed. Starline brass is known among all shooters that use it that it is the hardest brass made. The reason you are splitting the necks is two fold. Check your neck expansion die plug for it's diameter. If you are shooting 45 Colt and have the .452 expander plug and your bullets are .454 then you are stressing the neck. This applies to what ever caliber you are using. Second if you are shooting full house loads as you say then you should go to the Starline site and see what they say about the brass they make. They will tell you that it will need to be annealed. If you do this then you stop having those split necks. One word of caution, after the necks are annealed the brass can be bent with simple thumb pressure so be easy when seating. I 'll also bet that you are seating and crimping at the same time. Make it a four stage process. Seat you bullet to the proper depth with the seating die. Now use a separate die to crimp. Later David

Another .45 Colt Starline brass shooter here. I use new brass for " Ruger" level loads Then relegate it to the bucket for the milder loads after a few firings.I sure do like their brass and if I buy any new it is SL if they make it.

Starline is good brass, I have an outstanding order for 18,500 pieces waiting to come in. I forget which magazine wrote a good article about the Starline factory, but they showed off pictures of the equipment they use to produce the brass. Some of the equipment used is surplus WWII equipment that is still running to date.

Just went to their website and found 32-20 brass was in stock finally, so I ordered 500 cases which is at least twice what I want or need. $93.85 including shipping. Not bad.:bigsmyl2:

I went looking for some 357 Max, don't offer it. I bought 500 from them some years ago, I don't need any now but I wanted to see the price. Wonder why they don't sell it now.

Probably not much demand for 357 Max. They may still have some laying around or make another run in the future. You could give them a call if you decide that you need some.

Starline is what I use in all of my revolvers. I use range pick up for my pistols.

Like lots of folks who reload for a wide variety of cartridges, I get what I can get when I can get it sometimes. Sometimes I price shop. Starline brass for the most part is good for the price and I have used quite a bit of it for a variety of cartridges.

One example of dedicated headstamped brass by a big player: Some people used to swear by Winchester brass for certain cartridges. I have used lots of it also. One of the last large seasonal runs Winchester did of 348 Win brass, which at the time the only game in town, the QC was terrible. 1/3 of the flash holes had punch sprue flaps still clinging to the insides of the cases. About 10% of the cases had splits in the necks. So you never know.

Personally, the best brass I've ever used is Norma followed closely by Lapua.

Not to rain on a parade but the only bad batch of new pistol brass I've ever encountered was Starline. Apparently, the swaging die used to form the primer pockets for a run of 38 Spl Starline I got a couple of years ago was undersized... requiring a PITA opening of all the primer pockets for the batch lot I had.

I've used it and find it better than most everyone else's stuff. Very resonable too.
