has any one tried loading the 7ihmsa (necked down300 savage)round with any luck? As I have more ww and lino on hand than $$,I thought I might try this. I'm not sure where to srart /stop or which bullet mold would be best to start with. My 170 gr bullet wont chamber un less it the base is below the neck shoulder junction. The other 7mm mold is a 112 grain one.Loverin style. I am thinking of a 140 to 150 grain mold for weight not velocity. The gun is a 15" wichita pistol, scoped and has a canjar lite-pull trigger.

The guys I know who shoot cast in the 7mmBR use the 145 gr. RCBS silhouette bullet. They make a 168 gr. bore rider, but unless you have a pretty fast twist you may not get the accuracy you need. Deep seating isn't necessarily a problem. You just have to try it and see. I would suggest starting with around 18 grains of SR-4759, and working up to the velocity you want.

In my IHSMA days I tried the 168 in TCU, had to drive it HARD to get any accuracy.

But the brass was good for 1 rd so that ended quickly. Knew of a couple folks successfully using cast in 7mm cartridges, but do not recall any using them in the 7 IHSMA.

I went back to casting 357 and 44 for slamming rams.

If you would like to try a 168, I think I still have the mold collecting dust.

i also have a 7 ishma xp 100 built by brown, brown fiberglass stock, shilen stainless match barrel , ect. although i tried 4 different cast bullets in a 7 tcu , which none shot to my accuracy goals of a repeatible 1 1/2 inch at 100 yards . i never tried cast in the 7 ishma as accuracy with jacketed is phenomial , and i dont shoot it very much , but it sounds like a new project might be in the works . i still have alot of these bullets cast up a rcbs 145 sil , ly 160 rn , saeco 160 tc and a lbt 150. ill post my results when my tests get underway . bob
