Funny how the mold I was least interested in casts the prettiest bullets. I picked up RCBS 40-180-RN on sale for $45. Didnt really need another 10mm mold, but the price was too good.

Well the mold cast some nice looking bullets. I'm loading them up with 7.3g of No5 and they are going to range Saturday with me and the chrono and we will see what I have. [smilie=2:

The mold filled out really nicely and didnt have too many tool marks on it. Funny the front driving band drops at .402 and the rear band only drops at .4015. So I may need to beagle the rear band just a touch .0005 or so.

Very nice! Those look almost exactly the same shape and general contour as the Winchester 175gr Silvertip 10mms I carry in my compact 10mm for CCW.

Is that Lars Carnuba Red lube?

Its Red Rooster Zambini lube

Chrono results are in 10 round string, avg vel 1045.5 fps with SD of 13.04 fps with 7.3grains of AA#5. I like it. Very nice SD the powder measure gods were shining on me yesterday...very low charge to charge variance.

I also bought that mold because it was so cheap.Too bad I don't have a 40 caliber anything.I've been wanting a 10 mm. for a while now though.

I've used Lee's TC mold for the 10mm wit good results. That profile in the RCBS mold looks like the Xtreme plated bullets I use.

I have that exact mold for my 40S&W CZ75BSA. The combination of gun and mold are extremely accurate. This mold also lends itself to long loading the 40 for match 1911s.

I am looking for a mold just like this, is the 40-180-FN the same mold?

Purdy.

I just bought 200 empty starline cases. When the weather gets better here, I plan to get back into shooting my 1076 here and there. I put it away a few years ago when I saw them selling for $700-$800.

I suspect that the mould may need to be cleaned again, especially around the rear band area if it's dropping a tad small.

Nice looking boolit.
