I want to slug my 9 mm, 44 caliber and 45 caliber guns. The 9 mm and 45 caliber are both sig pistols. The 44 caliber is a S & W revolver.

My problem is that the lead balls recommended come in large quantities of
100. I hate to buy 100 balls for each caliber.

Is there one ball size I can use to slug all 3 barrels? I do not have any lead bullets yet to use for slugging.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Walk around Wally World in the fishing section with a bullet from each caliber in your pocket. Stop when you get to the sinkers.

Just for kicks, measure the inside mouth diameter of cases fired with full loads in those guns. Chances are that's pretty close to the size you'll end up having the best luck with. Anomalies do happen, but not often.

Could cast a pure lead boolit, lightly tap it with a hammer to fatten it, and use that. Lube barrel and boolit before slugging.

Egg sinkers work great. Just tap them with a hammer to make them a snug fit for your barrel. The hole in the center of the sinker will allow them to give enough to size them in the barrel without getting real tight

Just don't buy lead free weights. Zinc is hard to pound through a barrel.

also, use a good lube in the barrel when you do it. i am a big fan of STP, but hypoid gear oil, or even a light weight grease would be ok. i have used the fishing sinker method several times, it works well.

You could drill into a piece of wood the size you need and cast your own. It would be rough but that doesn't matter.
