A few days ago I posted pictures of my milk jug test of NOE's 314-129HP.
The result was very good as far as expansion and penetration.

Today I fired the same load through a different gun
S&W model 16-4, .32 Magnum with 6" barrel.

Load= NOE's 314-129HP 95/5% lead/tin, Starline brass, 4.0 grs Unique and CCI 500 primer.

I figured that I'd get higher velocities with the 6" barrel, so I set up an extra milk jug, than the boolit penetrated before, (it went through 2 jugs and stopped in the third, I set up 4 jugs.

Both shots were fired from 20 ft. Even at that distance I got splashed with water.

The boolit on the left is the one that was fired through the Ruger Single-Six that has a 4 5/8" barrel. The fired boolit in the center was fired through the S&W 16-4.
The boolit traveled through 3 jugs and almost exited the 4th jug, the far side of the 4th jug was split but the spent slug was inside the 4th jug.

The retrieved boolit weighted 114.6grs and expaned to .566"

Hickory,

Hope to shoot tonight when I get off work. I loaded with tight group in one group and Unique for the other. I started with 3.8gr on the Unique for the 32 mag, 4.0gr in the 327. hope for the same success you are having. Thanks for posting, great pictures.

I love to shoot milk jugs. I hear you can put a piece of dry ice in 'em and get spectacular results.

Hickory, you ought to be a professional photographer.
Could you share some info on the alloy, BHN and the FPS of that load (even if it is approximate)?

Well, I use to do wedding for almost 12 years. Nice way to go to
weddings and get a free meal.
Give it up when collecting money was no longer worth the effort.

The camera is just an inexpensive Nikon

I just thought of an analogy;
Shooting milk jugs is like socialism
Socialism, you quickly run out of other people’s money.
Shooting milk jugs, you quickly run out of water.

I'll say this, the key to a good photo is lighting.
From both sides and above is a good place to start.
And try not to use the on-board flash.
Use your macro mode for close-up pictures.[smilie=w:

Macro lens;
a lens used for close-up photography that produces a life-size or
larger image on film, with a minimum of 1:1 object-to-image ratio

Jeff;
Here in the States, there is no closed season on milk jugs.
The limit is all you can shoot, plus one.:bigsmyl2:

Good job Dennis! Them there handguns look familiar. My little one is still harping on a .32 after shooting yours.
I keep making my HP too hard! I will try your alloy and see if'n that works for me.

Jay;
Your daughter has one cool dad.
And, she is a pretty good shot.

When it dries out a little bit I'd to
have you and your daughter over.

Got to shoot the revolvers today 32mag and the 327 8 shot with the heavy weight boolit all was good shot the pb flat nose. Used 2400, unique and tight group. Tight group had the best accuracy in the 32mag 2400 in the 327. Had so much fun came home to cast some of the hollow point gas checks. Got my butt kicked. The pb flat nose 3 cavity cast like a dream. First time cast with the RG4 had 1 pot full of 20-1 and the other with 7/3 ww and lino. Hour and a half later 20 good boolits I hope this RG4 has a hillbilly learning cure that this old Hill Billy can figure out. Great base, lube grove awesome came off the pins good could not get good fill out to the end of the nose. Running pots high as they will go. Will have to try again in a couple of days

That's a dead ringer for my Smith 586 6" bbl 357 which is over 45 years old. That is the gun that I use to bring newbies into the shooting world with. A 125 gr Lee TL boolit over about 3.8 gr of W 231 produces a cat's sneeze recoil and instant fun on the metal reactive targets I use.

The kids and women folk love the low recoil and excellent results that this gun produces at 15 yds and they come back for more of the same.

I hate it when couch rambo types load up magnum rounds to scrare the bowel excrections out of new shooters for their benefit and newbies run away from the sport of shooting.

I have a 327 Federal Magnum shooter by Charter Arms but I have been unable to find new brass for it. Midway says that they are expecting some in the future. I wonder what definintion of the furture are they talking about. I need some cases now. The 32 H&R Magnum cases that I have found do not quite cut the mustard but will have to fill me needs until the "future" arrives.
