What rifle for loads? I does make a difference.

However I have used the Lee C457-500-FN for many years from 1200 to 2100 fps in BP single shots up through my Siamese Mauser bolt action. I like the GC because you can drive it harder (faster) with accuracy using a soft alloy that expands. It will kill elk at any velocity from 1200 to 2100 fps.

I tried the Lee 405 regular mold, got zero good groups. My RCBS 405 GC does extremely
well. The Lee 405 hollow base works great in my trapdoor with a really worn and oversized
barrel, but I understand that HB designs have low pressure limits. Too much pressure blows
out the base as it exits the muzzle and accy is gone.

Sim exp. I tried the 340grFP, mediocre accuracy. Reently got a RCBS325FP that throws a 340gr+/- bullet cast form ww. It shoots much better, down to 2" groups @ 100yds in my 1895G. They are almost identical in shape but the RCBS has a thicker base band, maybe that's why it is shooting better?
