I know this has been brought up before, but I can't locate it. What is the average weight of a 5 gallon bucket of wheel weights and how much are you paying for it? Also, what is the average lead yield of a five gallon bucket after throwing out the zinc, cigarette butts, valve stems, spark plugs and then smelting?

Check the stickies at the top of this page, and about 130Lbs before melting and cleaning & about 105lbs after. All of this is dependent on size of bucket, amount of Steel/zinc, trash ect..

Excellent. Thanks. Now, what about price. I'm just curious because I may start buying them from tire shops. My local guy says business is way down and he is getting about half the weights he once did. So my free weights are drying up.

Here in Kommirfornia, the avg 3-5gal bucket is now maybe 65% useable. Too much zinc, steel & plastic & trash. That needs to figure into your price. If I knew it was all useable, then $50/5gal bucket woul dnot be out of line today.
