if you dont get it into the cavities , ... you could slow down your cadence and let the sprue cool a little more and it should stop by itself,

It works............alright/ok............... or you can use Bull Plate sprue lube from Bull Shop a vendor here. Another option is two cylce engine oil. Apply the last two with a Q-tip and do not get it in the cavities.

It's "sprue plate" not spur plate. :D

Give the sprue another second or two to cool, and you can avoid the smearing and get a clean cut. Use a razor blade to carefully remove all of the lead smears before you apply the sprue lube.

Good shooting. :drinks:

Hi Fly!

The best lubricant that I have found is Molycoat Z grease. I have been lubricating the top of the mould half that the sprue plate swivels on with this product for many years.

Any high temp. lube will work O K and you should also lube the alignment pins. I don't like lubs which contain graphite since it can build up around the alignment pins and hold the mold open slightly. When I bought my first NOE mold a sample of Bullplate Sprue Lube was included with the mold. This is the absolute best mold lube I have ever used [also makes a great bore lube] and a small bottle seems to last forever since so little is used.

It lasts forever unless you use it for making Speed Green bullet lube and case lubing and all those other uses we are finding that it excels in.

#2 on the 2 stroke oil.

I have tried the two stroke oil and found the Husquvarna brand is the same color and acts the same as the lube that Mi Heck sent me. I believe he sends bull shop with his molds.
I am not trying to take away from the bull shop in any way it is great . I am just saying the Husquvarna two cycle oil seems to be the same thing.

a tiny dab of terminal grease applied carefully with a q-tip works well for me.

Hey Fly,
To remove lead smears from a mould just rub them with an ingot. Its amazing.

+3 on a good 2 stroke oil. I only have Mobil 1 synthetic 2 stroke right now, and it works great.
