I bought a job-lot of small lots of various powders, and two of them I can't identify. The first is labelled NY500 - it is a stick powder, the sticks being a bit longer (.065) than Varget, much the same diameter (.030) and a similar silver colour. I've found references to an old powder called NY300, but can't find anything on NY500. The other is labelled MAL. It's another stick powder, a bit darker in colour (might be a little bit of graphite on the surface), somewhat longer (.095) than the NY500 and about the same diameter (.030).
Seems like these would both be moderately slow rifle powders, but that's about as far as my guessing takes me. I'm hoping they might be of some use, if I had a place to start.
