I reckon if one believes in werewolves, the added expense of silver becomes a moot point. Make sure your arsenal includes a wood staked and mirror, too.

Wood stake and mirror are for vampires, I thought. There are no more werewolves--I thought in an earlier thread we had concluded that the Lone Ranger shot them all.

I know that a stake and mirror are for vampires, but figured if one believes in werewolves one may also believe in vampires, and to be so armed.

Missed the thread about the Lone Ranger killing all the werewolves. He and Superman were my childhood idols. I also looked favorably upon Annette Funicello.

I read an article years ago where a boolit was used as a master by moulding furnace cement around it and letting the cement dry on a piece of plate glass (boolit base down). Then a tourch was used to melt out the boolit and the cavity was filled with melted silver. The furnace cement was then chipped off. Never tried it myself.

I dunno about all the werewolves being gone. There's a couple of females where I work and they sure resemble the first werewolves I saw in the movies....

I could cast them yet not economical. I cast siver and gold all the time in my Jewelry business. I think a silver lead alloy would be more suitable for a gun barrel. Yes Silver is malable ,yet much harder than lead. I think lead is easier on the barrel. Just my .02

I have casted a number of 90% tin and 10% Silver boolits

Not only are they lite
But they are also super tough to size

But we pushed them to 1600 fps out of a 357 mag Marlin
When we recovered the boolits out of the clay/mud back stop
We figured they could have been relubed and shot again , as they never deformed

Silver solder melts at a low enough temp that you can melt it in a ladle with a propane torch

They might kill your barrel too. Silver is a little harder than lead.

Back in the 80s, there was a fellow in Connecticut casting Sterling bullets. The .38 caliber that he had on hand were "Dracula's Head" and the .44 said "Make My Day". There also was a .458 in the form of an eagle's head.

(I'll post pics when I find them.)

He told me that a woman in Florida had been shot and killed with a .38 bullet.

Found a photo of the .458 eagle. Note the tell-tale blackish tarnish of unpolished sterling.

There is a big series on the web about a guy doing this. VERY difficult, had to basically
go the jewelry route.

Not even remotely practical.

No werewolves, so who cares.

Thanks for sharing those photos, obviously not target rounds.
My Dad always wanted a silver bullet like the Lone Ranger used,
maybe a roundnose to fit the period.
I had a roundnose 44 mould but traded it long ago.
I just never attempted it, didn't want to ruin a mould.
My wife makes jewelry, this might kick it in gear.

She could probably make a sand cast of a model bullet.

The Count would only be for close range work.

I could see the Count Dracula round in a period derringer. "You've only got one shot, make it count!" Nice end to a B movie....

The Make My Day could certainly be cast in lead, would be funny.

I cast some pure zinc one time in a mold- you don't want the sprue to set, let me tell ya! Cut it by hitting the sprue plate with a lead hammer.
It would be easier to silver plate a RN FMJ and use a nickel case for best looks.

How much silver is needed to kill "the undead" or "the cursed"?

Why not just put some silver nitrate in an hollow point and close the point?
Easier on the bore.

In the book Monster Hunters International by Larry Correia, they put a silver bead into a large hollow point and sealed it up. The mushrooming of the HP would eject the silver to do it's thing on werewolves.

Really. If I ever saw a werewolf, I wouldn't worry about killing it, would just hope I woke up before it killed me.
Some are pretty cool and would probably buy the Make my Day one to put on a chain around my neck. If I wore a neck chain. Which I don't.

You can't kill werewolves.
Especially in Kalifornia, anyway. I think they have a law against it.
The greenies, the tree huggers, and PETA would stop you even if they don't.
Besides, have YOU ever seen one?
Just like Bigfoot, they are never seen by anyone you know, but always talked about being there!
I think they are only in London, or at least that is what the song says....... :kidding:

And then there would be the garlic-based lube for those big grooves....... :bigsmyl2:

Wally, in our State that's for sure! Werewolves and Vampires too! Sucking the blood right out of us. By the way--do they still have a big picnic at the Arlington Legion on the 4th of July? For a while, a few decades ago, I used to live in Shaftsbury and frequented that Legion quite a bit.

I think that there may be some changes in Montpeculiar after the mid-term elections. One can only hope. My property taxes were $7,300 for 6 acres.

Now, THAT is SCARY! A lead bullet will cure that kind of madness!
At least, that's what Thomas Jefferson, and a few of the other founding fathers, said.

Back in the 60's Jack Lewis had an article in GUNS magazine about this. They did the lone Ranger route and tested the bullets in a SAA. They ended up turning the bullets as it took too much heat to fill on a standard mould and accuracy wasn't very good.

BY the way I think Jack is still alive he was an Ex Marine and a script writer in addition to being a GUNS regular. I can't remember his partners name off hand but they did some crazy stuff I don't think you could get published today.

KCSO I too read the article that you mentioned. GUN WORLD magazine in about 1963/64. SuperDan Cotterman was probably involved in this caper. Shortly after this he moved on to another less nefarious position in the firearms industry. Dan Cotterman recieved the nickname SuperDan due to wearing a Superman costume in an inane article that they ran. Some of the editorial idea must have been pirated from MAD Magazine but some how it survived. I met Jack Lewis at the NRA Show in Portland in the early seventies. I'm not sure but believe that I heard about him passing away a short time ago. Neil
