i used an old book i tore up as a flux today while making #2.

worked pretty good. low smoke/flame and a light ash that blows right off.

I think it would be a factor of getting it in contact with your melt. Sawdust or wax would give good coverage to prevent oxidation.

they were old romance books i got scammed with from ebay.

i ladle out the lead into the ingots so having stuff on top of my lead wouldn't be good.

Otherwise it's a waste of time sitting there.
