I have two Rossi model 92, a stainless .357 16 inch and a blue .44 Mag 20 inch. I did full action jobs on them and installed a adjustable peep from steve's Guns in the safety slot. Really handy shooters.

You will LOVE yours. I'm still looking for an opportunity for a stainless .45.

Good decision! Be sure to follow up on that new pistol for the GF.

I bought the same thing, but in blue a few months back and it shoots really well with 250 gr boolits. Though with the 24" barrel, the RCBS 270 gr would be a better boolit to shoot. I been wanting to get a few to try out the next time I do some reloading and see what they do.

If it has not been fired yet, oil the action and work it a bit to get the sticky feeling out. Also run a brush through the barrel and chamber to get the grease out. Mine had quit a bit in the chamber and in the action.

Oh, if your not used to the firing pin safety on the bolt, it will drive you nuts. I am debating on removing mine.

All in all its a really good gun for the price, now all Rossi needs to do, is make it in 45-70.

I got a stainless 20 inch carbine in 45 colt and a blued similar rifle in 357 mag and love both of them. I personally just ignore the safety on the bolt. its out of the way and does not move by itself. My stainless 45 has seen a lot of rounds down its barrel and I would probably keep it over all of my other lever guns.

You might want to spend the $20 and buy the DVD sold by Steve Young at Steve's GUNZ. If you decide to lighten it up I used the spring kit rather than cutting the stock springs on mine. The reason being is the spring kit sold by Brownells has coil springs and not flat. The stainless magazine spring and follower that Steve sells is a good buy for any 92 that you plan to use or keep.

I got two, one 357 Oct brl 24' SS. Recoils like a 22lr.
The other, 44mag 16' SS. Kicks like a mule. I love it.
While you are in there slicking up the action. Punch out the roll pin that holds that gawd-aweful safety. Grind off the bottom flush, then grind off the tabs. Pollish smooth, and bobs-your-uncle.

If I can do this, anyone can.

Use this for a guide.

That worked great! This one might show more detail, it is the best I could do.

I didn't put this on to get rid of the safety because it is a good ides to use it when you unload live rounds through the chamber. I did it because my 67 year old eyes had to have it.

Phillip Rossi makes the 92 in 454 Casull which is like a lighte 45-70. Kicks worse than my 1895 Marlin in 45-70! But it is a nice hog gun. Fast shooting and very deadly!
