I know it is kinda dumb but I am looking for some data on land and groove sizes , mainly for a 45acp?I want to build an
45acp carbine using a 1888 commission rifle action and was wanting to do it on the cheap.
I have several 71/84 barrels and was thinking of using one of them.
Is there a data sheet that will give the various barrel land and groove sizes?

..............There really isn't much variation in the 45 ACP, as in the 1911 the grooves have always been shallower then the 'norm' for most others consisting of a .004" groove depth. Slugs for the 45 ACP are generally spec'd at .451" or .452". Lands can be .449"/.450" with grooves running .451"/.452" and combinations. The 71/84 has a generally consistent .433" land ID, and given the close to 50/50 land groove width's, you'd be displacing quite a bit of material as the slug engraves.

I'd buy a barrel suitable for 45 ACP from the gitgo and have a gunsmith chamber and fit it to the action. Are you going to make a filler block for the magazine opening in the action?

Thanks Buckshot!!
Was only an idea as I already had the 71/84 barrels.
Was thinking they wouldnt work but was looking.
Am getting ready to start the project and am trying to get every thing together.
Will talk to my gunsmith and have him get a barrel for me.
