One of these men is a relative possibly a great great gradfather, my brother came across this along with others, I don't have any info yet on the photo, but must be officers as I see a lot of swords but no firearms.

My guess would be this is a group photo of an after war reunion. They are all wearing medals that were common for reunions. The way they are dressed kinda looks like it too. They all appear to be older and yes no firearms.

My guess would be a photograph from a reunion after the War of the Rebellion. Note the ages of the gentlemen and all except the bugler are wearing a decoration that looks like a reunion or GAR medal. Also the lack of firearms and lack of rank insignia.

Great photo and if it has the photographers name it may be possiable to date it.

I hate to be the one to say it, but they all seem to be a little on the heavy side to be active army.

It appears to be a reunion photo of the GAR Grand Army of the Republic.
That makes sense my grandmother was a past president of the GAR ladies aux.
Picture isn't dated, the guy seated on the left is holding a box which looks to be a doctors kit? Has small vials and bottles in the lid, photo is a 8 x 11.

One of the pictures he sent is of my Great Grandmother it is an actual tin type photo, it does match up with another photo we have of her, but it is opposite of the tin type in one she is standing to the right and the other to the left, same pose though.

The individual with the most 'imposing' appearance is the man seated in the middle.
His posture is most erect, his 'eye' is most bold, and he wears his hat at a jaunt.

I don't know which man is your relative, but the picture makes me think it was posed to portray a particular commander surrounded by his 'staff'...which could easily include his personal physician.

My family was in the 16th and 120th Ohio. If you don't know which regiment, do you know the county your family lived in at the time?

The Grand Army of the Republic has a museum here in Springfield Illinois. If you like I'll get a contact number for you. They may be able to provide you some additional information.
