Valve grinding compound on a few boolits run through the die will usually open it up that much pretty quick. Just be careful not to over do it.

Wayne Go to Castpics and then look on the left side of the page for Research and Data. Click on "Honing a Sizing Die" to get to Buckshot's tutorial, "How to Hone a Size Die."

How many rotations does it normally take per .001 size increase?

Are we talking about 10 or 100? Just curious so I don't roll the die down my leg once and open it up .003 :-)

TIA

prickett, That would depend on the coarseness of the emory/sandpaper you're using and the pressure you apply. However, I think I'd try 20 - 25 back and forth strokes, clean the die, and size and mike a CB or two. Depending on the reading you get, you'll know whether to proceed or not.

wayne s,

i was skeptical about "beagling" a mold, but it worked. 3 thin strips of adhesive-backed aluminum tape are affixed to the mold blocks; outside of each cavity and one between.
