Team.

Got some bloods results today and my lead level is now in the 'acceptable' range which is good. Just goes to show that since I tightened up on my cleanliness and have started scrubbing the life out of my hands after casting and loading I have things in the right order.

On the washing part.....................scrub with cold water as this will shrink your pores and in turn reduce the chances of lead making its way through this path of travel.

Great news and RobS has good advice. I used to take as cold a shower as I could stand when I worked in rayon and fiberglass, that ended the itching when I left work.

Soaps with a high phenol content (non industrial) work the best at decontamination of lead particles. I've been ordering Lifebuoy soap online since we can't buy it in the USA any more. It has the highest phenol content of any non industrail soap.

Jeff - Glad to hear you're getting better. Stay with it. What Rob said about the cold water - a good idea. enjoy Mike

Are you sure that what you discussed in the other thread didn't have something to do with it:) Need we say more:bigsmyl2:

What do you consider to be the acceptable range?

Washing with cold water. Huh. Never thought about that being a good thing to do after casting or insulating etc! Thanks!

So what is "a stone lighter"? I keep hearing this used in Brit-related countries, but
to Americans this is totally baffling.

I began wearing nitrile 'rubber' gloves whenever I cast or reload a few years ago. It works for me.

Curious: At what point would it be worth smelting down a pint? And would the blood serve as acceptable flux? (Sorry, just couldn't help it! Glad your level is improving.).

Trey45,

That's very interesting about Life Buoy soap. Where do you order it, if you don't mind?
