Not as explosive as the swaged 22 hull jacketed I got from Bullshop's sons, but dead is dead. I hope to try some of my own on PD's this next weekend. The past one I had a cold and it rained all weekend, but I did get lots of ammo loaded. That the Savage single shot? What scope is that?

Tex, yes on the Savage Model 40 single shot(fun gun and shoots good). The scope is a cheap Tru Glo, I think its made by BSA for them. I to noted the lack of expansion, Vmax cut them into but the Vel is in 2700fps range too. When I get the load refined then I will look at making the 438 into an HP. May try the Paco style of HP. best M.R.

Rain here this weekend, No doggin for me.

Gitcha a real dutch oven. Dig a hole and burn a big fire to coals. Melt some salt pork in the oven, toss in that critter's parts and some vegies if you want. Put coals on the lid and fill the hole in. Let it cook most of the day while you keep hunting.
Soon the farmers will complain about all those funny looking chuck holes!

Whistlepig- here's a small Pa. whistlepig's exit hole, shot with a HP 225462 going a little over 2000fps out of a 22-250. I hollowpointed them on a lathe, alloy was ACWW with a little tin. I shot 20-30 of them last summer with that bullet, good expansion on all of them. Not as spectacular as a jacketed going 3800fps but they all died quickly.

No, old picture :).

Matter o'fact today I had to drive north 1 hour to Medford, Oregon. Blowing snow sideways going over Mount Ashland 4315 feet. Winter's not quite over yet.

Quack1, good shot on that one, nice expansion to. I will go to HP in the Lyman 438 soon, I am not sure what that will do to my accuracy by the shift of the center??!! Before I rework the mold I think I will do the drill thing first. good shooting

Whistlepig- The accuracy after after HP was the same as before, point of impact changed some. I've hollowpointed several different calibers, seems the POI changes less the bigger the diameter and heavier the bullet. Accuracy seems to stay the same or get a little better after HP. I traded with another member for a 225438 about a month ago, have a bunch cast up and weighed, but haven't had the time to shoot any yet. I'm going to be using them in a 218 Bee. After I get acceptable accuracy, I'm going to HP them to use on ground hogs. All I need is the time, and with spring turkey and walleye seasons coming up in a couple weeks, spare time will be in short supply for awhile.

Quack1,
I understand the time thing, I being thinking ice off trout, P dogs and other spring thing and then the wife started talking house painting.
I will get to the HPing of the #438's and see what the Pdogs think of them.:)
