I am having so-so results in my 1895G w/ porting. I think I just haven't found the right formula yet. There is no issue w/ leading in the ports so far.

Yes, but you probably will want to remove the brake and dig the lead out every so often. PB boolits tend to have 'tails' formed by the rifling - these 'tails' get blown off as the boolit leaves the muzzle, and will be deposited inside the brake. GC boolits - probably not.

When I started competitive shooting I was issued a High Standard Space Gun .22, w/barrel weights and a muzzle brake. Had to clean the brake a couple of times, before I moved up to a Smith...

YMMV...

I have a ported barrel on a S&W Mtn Gun, picks up a bit of leading in streaks on the
OUTSIDE of the barrel, apparently blown out the ports and condenses back on the
barrel metal. Also, a .38 Super 1911 with a comp builds up lead in the comp, not harmful
but I dig it out periodically. Never seemed to cause any real problems.
