Hello all, I have been lurking here for a while and decided to jump in. My question: I just casted my first bullets. 54 cal Pedersoli mold , 504 g conical using 30:1 lead
The bullets are coming out of the mold with a thin seam where the molds joined. Is this normal? I tried putting a quick set clamp on the blocks before I poured the lead and they went away but this sounds like a tedious thing to set and unset with each pour. The Lyman large handles dont seem like they allow the molds to set completely because when the molds are off the handles they close up real tight. Any ideas?

Welcome aboard.

Take off the handles, and grind a bit off of the inside of both legs, on the front. They most likely aren't permitting the mold to close completely.
