Recently I purchased the Lee 30 cal mold - C309-160R double cavity gas check. I will shoot these boolits in my Savage M99 in 300 Sav. Alloy = wheel weights. Does anyone have any loads,or info, for this specific boolit in this caliber and rifle? Thanks !

REDBARON,

You might want to try 18 gr. of IMR4227. I use that load in my 300 Savage with a Lyman 311291 CB which is close to your bullet weight. This CB load was recommended by Ken Waters, many years ago, for the 300 Savage.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,

The first couple of deer I ever used cast on was with a 99 chambered in .300. Like CJR, I used 4227 but, 18.2 grains for some reason. Nevertheless Lyman 311466 accounted for both bucks in 1977. Another very good load for deer is 44 grains of H-4831 and 31141 boolit. I have a custom mold that drops a 165 grain flat point and find 23 grains of Rx 7 to be a very consistant load. Have fun with your 99, ther're great rifles.
