I was able to find some H4198 the other day (1 month of looking).

I was going to start to see if a change in powder will change my luck for loading Casts in my Hornet. I have a Lyman 438 mold, bullits are sized .2255, bore is .224, will be using CCI SP prim, and will issue a small prayer when I start:bigsmyl2:

I have load data for J-words bullets of 11.5-12.5 grs. From those that have use 4198 in a Hornet.
Where would be a good starting point, I was thinking starting at 10 grs and working up at .5 grs to see if any would show promise. SUGGESTIONS!

Start at 7 gr, been there - done that.

Let us know what results you get. I fired some Hornet rounds yesterday with 8 gr. 2400 and I think I've found what the 225-438 likes in this gun (Ruger 77/22). 3.5 gr. 231 was a close second for accuracy. If you do well with 4198 I will give it a try also.
