WC 820 . . . Your experiences . . .

Ok I have a pound or two, ok so maybe a bit more tha that of WC820 and want to hear some recommendations for 357 mag and Max, 44 Mag, 22 Hornet, 222, the TCUs, 30-30, 308, 30-06, 45-70. All cast of course.

Yes surprisingly the WC 820 gave me the most accurate load I have with jword bullet and starting load from Sierra(?) in the Contender. Not so with the cast boolits I have tried so far!

WC820...

I use 18.0 grains in the 30/06 with a 180 grain bullet.

15.0 grains in the .44 Mag under a 429421/HP

16.0 grains with a 150 grainer in the .30/30.

10.0 grains in the .222/223.

I've shot it in the .38/55 and also in the .45/70 but not enough to recommend a load at this time.

It's a good powder for medium velocity plinking loads and no fillers./beagle

I've been using it in my handguns, and in general it matches Alliant 2400 burn rate. I've seen it compared to H-110, which is slower burning at least in my lots. It is also compared to AAC #9, which is pretty close.

I like it because it meters so well, and is dense enough to just fill .44 magnum and .454 Casull heavy loads. Of course the fact that it's only $56 for 8 pounds helps to!

Love it, love it, love it! Use it in place of 2400 in mil surp rifles and AA#9 in 44 , 357, 30-20, 32H&R, and 45 colt pistol. Also WC820f which is close to AA#7 and HS7. I like the price even if Jeff just raised it $8. Only got about 20# left got to get more.

Nothing wrong with WC820 in mid range to full loads, but I'd rather use 4756 at 3 bucks per pound for light to light-mid range loads. For example, 11 grains in the 44, and 13 grains in 45 colt are solid mid range loads. Use 4756 in lieu of Herco. So far, no mention of this powder from Bull Shop Alaska where it appears in bulk? ... felix

takes about 21 grains of my lot of 820 to make 1340 fps with a 265 cast in 7 1/2 srh.
takes 17 gr with an lbt 280 in the same gun for about 1050 fps.

takes about 2 gr more than aa9, but since it is sooo much cheaper its no big deal( actually fills the case better...)

Where can 4756 be found at $3 per pound? I don't see it at GI Brass or Hi-Tech ammo. Stan

I am starting to use WC820 in 303 & 308 now. I have always used it in 357 magnum loads right around 13 grains and 358429. I've also used it as a 38 special +P+ load with the same bullet shot out of 357 mag pistols only with +P 38 brass.

I also understand it can be used in 410 loads.
