I have been given some Hodgdon BLC powder. This is not the current BLC2 but an older product. It has a price of $3.50 on the container, so I am certain it is quite old.

The powder appears OK insofar as is has no objectionable odor & it was stored in a cool & dry location.

Can anyone provide info as to whether I can use BLC2 data & make use of this.

Perhaps I should just use it for lawn fertilizer.

Your comments on this matter would be appreciated.

Rod, you have the best of the best of the BLC line. Save that for when you get yourself a 222, 223, or 222 mag. That stuff is RARE and some folks of years gone by would have given you 10 times that price for their BR guns. The burn speed is next to perfect. ... felix

Can I use the current BLC2 data???

Yes, start at 24 grains. If accurate enough, stay there pressure permitting. ... felix

felix thanks again for all the help.

Would you recomend 24gr of BLC for the Lyman225646 55gr cast bullet?

For cast, use about 9 grains BlueDot, 11 grains 2400, 6.5 grains 4756 using pistol primers. ... felix
