I have a rugar GP100 in 357 mag with a 6 inch barrel. I bought lees 158 grain rf boolit mold. I have been casting ww and load up some boolits that had been panned lubed and the rounds would not fit in the cylinder. I miced the boolits and they are .360-.361 diameter. I next took and slugged all 6 chambers and they come in at .3575. So here is my question. I know I need to resize but the options I am looking at is as follows lees resizer in either a .358 or .357 resizer. which one do I need and can't afford to buy both at this time I have to get it right the first time.

.358 is the winner :)

Garbear,

I'll check some bullets sized to .358 in my GP tonight after work. I already have some sized and loaded to test in another gun this weekend.

I agree. A good snug but not tight fit!

My guess is that you'll go with the .358

Just as a side note ...the 125 grain RF that comes out of th Lee mould mic's at .360. I was surprised to see that.

I have had excellent results with this mold. Use the .358 for sure. I have loaded it to
full power loads with H110, something around 16 grains, whatever the book max is for
this wt with excellent results. Start low and work up.

If the cylinder throats mic .3575 then .358 is going to be a bit snug. You will be sizing .0005 by pushing the rounds in the chamber. Have you slugged the bore to see what it measures?

Garbear,
just checked on some .3605 bullets sized to .358 and loaded in nickle plated casings and they fit in GP100 cylinders just fine. The bullets were straight wheel weights. Now, get ready to muscle up to use the Lee die...the one I had before I got my Lube-A-Matic was a female dog. But, in Lee's defense, the bullets were really hard.

I have not slugged the bore. I have ordered the .358. My brother called and said he is sizing to .356 in his and getting great accuracy. I guess I will slug my bore. what suggestions for the bore if it is tighter then the 3575 on my cylinder. I had gone off what has been posted when I ordered but have no problem changing my order if necessary.

You'll be fine. Just play with your loads and it will get there. Shoot, just about eveything I have tried shoots good out of my GP. I was getting groups around 1.5 inches with Lil' Gun at 30 yards no matter what I did, and that was with iron sights off the tailgate of my Landcruiser with cheap blankets for a rest. My wadcutters did well also with a minimal load of Clays and Red Dot. (I use the Lee tumble lube 148 wadcutter...unsized, straight wheel weights) You've got a great gun...have some fun!
BTW, if you shoot off blankets like I did at first, a fire extinuisher might not be a bad idea! It'll sure burn a hole or two in them.

No worries about changing your order-- .358" is correct.

If the bore is a bit tighter than .3575" it won't hurt a thing at all, and you'd still preferentially size based on the cylinder mouth measurement anyway.
