I finally cast my first bullets today! I've been reading here for some time, learning from the shared experience of those who know what they're doing. (not me) Anyway, I got out two moulds, a Lyman 429244 and a Saeco #433. Both 44 caliber, gas-check designs.

I erred on the side of easy casting and cast these from a mixture of 50% wheelweights and 50% linotype. I cast about 200 of each. Photos of my new "children" can be seen at the following link.

...............They look good. Ya gotta cast up a whole bunch more so you don't get too attached to those, so's ya can shoot'em without feeling bad about it :-)

You're right - I find myself thinking of them as things I own and need to take care of, rather than bullets to shoot.

You have now officially crossed over to the point where somebody usually refers to the "slippery slope." From this point on you'll never be the same. Good luck and have fun with casting; it adds so much to handloading and shooting.

Next thing you'll be making some Felix-Brew Lube. Try to limit E-bay mould buying to one every month for the first year or two. after that, taper it down to bi-monthly

You size them .432 what type of gun do you use? Do you hunt or use them on target range etc.

I'm shooting them out of two Winchester 94's. One's chambered in 444 Marlin and the other is a 44 magnum. Most of these will be used on paper, with a select few used on feral hogs with my brother in Texas.
