HI,
Matt & I just bought a lot of wc860.
Matt has a338/06 & is looking for load data.
I have a 7mm/06 & am looking for data. For 145, 162gr j bullets, & the 168 gr lyman gc cast bullet.
Marc & 2 of my daughters have 30/06s & could use help too.
Yes I have already printed out the cast picts data.

I have been using 860 for a while. A full case is the only way to fly. Shoot em and see how it works. I am getting 2200 fps out of my '06 with a heavy boolit. Reasonable accuracy. Works much better in my 308.

I have been contemplating a surplus order and have been trying read what I can on the forum. I too am interested in 06 based or 8x57 info.

Boom Boom,

Any reason you picked 860? I have been contemplating one of the slow surplus but not sure which way to go. I am having great success with IMR7828 in my 7mm06, but not sure what surplus powder would fit the bill. I know I will buy some 4895, I know what it will do.

I guess we will see what happens in the info sharing department.

I don't have 860, but I do have a jug of IMR 5010. I think that you would only have to worry about cartriges like the 25-06 or 300 wby. Other wise a full case will be low pressure and low velocity. I've loaded some 5010 in my 06 with a 165 core lokt and got around 2100ish.
I loaded a full case in the 45-70 and the unburnt granules shot holes in the display of the chronograph. So watch out for that. I think a piece of plexiglass mounted in front would be a good idea.

One clear advantage of WC 860 is that it flows through powder measures very well. IMR 5010, on the other hand, doesn't, but is cheaper and is filler-friendly. I.e., small amounts (1cc or less) of poly- or cereal filler improves burning efficiency and reduces both extreme velocity spreads and standard deviations.

HI,
We chose wc 860 because what I had read about it. Cheap, versitle, can feed the family of /06 rifles (6 of them in the family). The 308 Basid cartrages Matt has 1 & I may get a 7mm/08. And the Mags. 7MM & 300 win .
I have found that I can adjust a little & use 25/06,270, & 30/06 data in my 7MM/06. As you go up in bore size pressure reduces slightly if case capacity is the same, & you use same wt. bullet, & primer.
Matt & I Are trying to get my boys to go in w/ us on a group buy of 4895 so we can get the free hazmat.
Matt has a nagant to we would like data for.
