Seems to be the hot topic of the week. After about month r two of reading here and gathering parts slowly but surely on a college mans budget, I finally got my first smelting and casting done.

Got some ingots made, didn't take any of the smelting process as I was too afraid to take my eye off but here are the ingots I made, well some of them. Made a pan of corncob muffins too
Big thanks to Deadwood for the brick moulds

Way to go, Jess! And what makes you think you will stop at just ONE 6-banger? Hmmmm?

It's a good feeling, ain't it? :)

Good looking boolits. Not wearing my glasses at the moment, but they look like .452SWC boolits from the Lee mold?

That's a GREAT boolit. Probably my number two boolit in terms of overall accuracy, ease of loading, ease of casting, etc etc.

How are you going to lube this boolit?

pan lube. Using a silicone cake pan that should do about 50 or so at a time using berry daars (sp)

And yes they are Lee 200gr :)

Jesse - Nice boolits. That Lee boolit is also the first ones I ever cast up. Mine is a 2 cav mold also. Welcome. enjoy Mike

I'm jealous.....to much dreaming about casting [smilie=6:
and not enough time getting to it!!
At least we know the ingot mold works.

Still trying to scrounge up a pot to smelt my WW and i'll be right behind you. Weather arrived this week so i can't blame it any longer.

Careful. Don't do like I did and cast up a couple thousand only to discover the boolit didn't shoot well out of my particular gun. Now I have boxes of 9mm that are essentially ingots.

They worked great in my stock barrel Glock 21 but wouldn't go into battery with the lone wolf barrel. Looks like the barrel will be going back to them... again to be re profiled. Even if it wont work out with the lone wolf, I have a spare OEM barrel that I will use sparingly until I get a 1911 again

Don't let any one tell you that you can save money by shooting cast. I am able to shoot a lot more with cast but it has cost me a lot of money and this site is almost as bad a drug dealer. They appear to be very friendly and offer great advice but watch out for the "Igottohaves" or worse yet the "Ineeds" This place is full of them.

Good luck with your casting, great looking boolits

That's what I tell my wife. Don't know if she believes it, though.
