Which grease cookie have you used with success? Do you cut it from a layer on wax paper, inject it in the case, or ladle it in while still liquid?

Often cut from a lube ribbon

When I used them, I poured melted lube onto wax paper with boundaries made from wood lathe the thickness I wanted the cookie. Then took a case and drilled the primer pocket out so a nail could be inserted and cut each one out then popped it out with the nail head. It's much better to get a bullet with enough lube capacity so you don't have to use a cookie; in addition to being a pain to make they slow down the loading process some.

I do the same as McLintock. Works good if lube is a little to soft will chill it down in the fridge.

What mix do you use as the grease cookie?

It can be done quicker - by using the loaded case with an overpowder card wad for cutting the cookie. That way, no need to handle the cookies several times. Composition runs from 'normal' BP lube to pure beeswax, thick ness also varies quite a bit.

If I recall correctly I have heard of using a “pea” sized piece of boolit lube between the two card wads instead of a cookie.

I cut my cookies from a sheet poured about the same as McLintock. I charge my case and then put in the wax wad and then use that case to cut the cookie. I then put another card on top and seat my bullet. My lube is the oft quoted beeswax and bear oil. I do have a summer and a winter mix in bullet lubes, but i just use winter mix in the cookies and have not had any problems.

Thanks for the info. I'll experiment this summer.

........................and when I saw that loveryly 7/8" hard chromed rod (didn't know it was chromed until I chucked a piece in the lathe to cut some threads :-) ) I just couldn't thow it away. I KNEW somehow, someway it'd be usefull.

When I finally took one apart to get that rod out there was this beautimus piston and cylinder setup. I made a lube extruder!

Welded on some pipe threads, cut down a pipe cap and welded a piece of steel on top with a suitably sized hole for the lube to squeeze through and screwed it on the tube. As it squeezes out I use a single edge razor blade to slice off the cookies. I haven't gotten around to making a cap with a slot in it for ribbons yet.

I cut felt wads out of craft felt squares with a sharpened 45-70 case and soak them in melted SPG. Seat over a card was under boolit and shoot. So far good lube stars on my Uberti Hi-Wall.
