Has anyone found the short gas check shank on SAECO 305 to be a limiting factor with respect to accuracy at high velocity? I'm looking for a boolit design I can take to 2300 fps w/o sacrificing accuracy (I'm not scrimping on lube quality). The rifle is a '49-'50 vintage 336A ('G' gun w/ a 'F' lever) that can push RCBS 30-180FN @ 196 grains (ready to fly) to 2200 fps w/o straining because of the chamber's generous dimensions and long, 30-06-lik throat. The RCBS 30-180 mold is one of the best molds I have for this rifle but with a groove diameter of .3095" or even a bit larger, I'd like to try a little fatter boolit with the added advantage of a 4-cavity mold. I have a brand new 4-cavity SAECO 322 mold (I've got to verify that mold number) that I would be willing to trade for a 305 in the same condition assuming the 305 will meet my requirements. Maybe there's someone out there that would like to trade some 305 boolits for something else.
