Here are photos of my first Smelting furnace. I welded some additional legs to bring it up to waist height. I had my friend (430 lbs.) sit on it for 10 minutes and it didn't budge. That is a HF Dutch oven on top and it snuggles right into the top ring and is nice and secure. I cant wait to fire it up and show you guys my first melt. :castmine:

I see your feline fink is giving it an once over.
Looks like a good size to do some serious melting! I like room in the pot to retrieve clips, etc...
I got a little one I use on the stove top. Doing wheel weights is a drag.

Did the catscan turn up anything wrong with your set up?

Didn't someone else have an unpleasant odour incident after some cat poop got in the pot? I am sure I remember reading something like that on this sight.

I have that same rig, with out the extra hight. I added the 3 supports just as you did but mine are square tubing. I often melt a full 11 qt dutch oven full of alloy in it. It has served me well for years.....Buck
