I have a Knight model 93 rifle,It shoots Powerbelts quite good and sabots great IF i use the correct bullets. I was gifted a Lee mold for their R E A L 320 grain bullets and am wondering if this bullet would shoot well in the Knight. Would the twist in the model 93 be to quick for the REAL bullet? Would the REAL bullet require black powder or could I continue to use Pyrodex? I have the mold and the time and Powerbelts do cost $$ !! $$ is getting tight since retirement.

Try it and see. What have you got to lose? Every rifle is different, even if a REAL might not be the optimum boolit for your Knight's rate of twist, it might still be acceptably accurate to hunt with. In any event, you'll never know unless you actually try it. BP or any of the substitutes are worth trying. If you have Pyrodex on hand, start there. If it's not as accurate as you'd like, get some FFg and/or some Triple7.

I am just taking an educated guess but I think the twist will be to tight. You didn't put the twist rate or caliber in the message so I don't really know. I am assumeing it is a 50 cal and if it shoots sabots and powerbelts well which do need a tight twist, you probubly have a tight twist like 1-28 or 1-32. They shoot very good with a 1-48 twist of my 50 cal. I have a CVA inline with a 1-28 twist and I could not get them to group well at all. If you have the 1-32 twist they might work if the load is not too heavy. The only way you will know for sure is to try them! You can shoot them with any BP or BP substitute for rifle!

Try 'em seated over 80gr. of Pyropoop, about 2" groups at 50 yards from a BK92 and a MK 85.

Buddy bought a Scout carbine,he could not get any sabot to work worth a damm.I had some .50 Lee ashcan minnes laying around and they shot pretty good.So you never know untill you try.I seem to recall we ended up with 80 gr of goex ff load.

Assuming your rifle is a .50 cal and has the 1-28 or 1-32" twist (?); I use the REAL 320 gr .50 cal in my TC Black Mtn Mag with good results. I found that with a 1-16 tin-lead alloy and lubed with a 4/5 olive oil/beeswax lube they shoot sub 3" at 100 yards. I use a load of 80 gr (V) 777 FFFG or 90 gr (V) 777 FFG. I use a Wonder Wad, or a felt cut wad soaked in my lube, under the REAL. Velocity is 1500-1600 fps depending on powder.

I did not get very good accuracy past 1000 fps with pure lead bullets. I attribute that to them not holding on the shallow and fast twist (1-28") lands. The 1-16 alloy works well.

HMMMM! @ 21 bullets to the pound I'd only need a pound of alloy to see what happens.THEN if I like those results, I can crank out a few more pounds of 1/16 alloy. Got to figure a way to keep these alloys from getting mixed together. thanks gentlemen!

I use pure lead in my REALs. No need to go fast if you've got the mass. IIRC there is even a 500gr .50 REAL mould out there. I had a few of 'em for a while just tomake people gape.

Bill Davis at Blackjack Hill might be able to pour up a few....

I use the REAL in .45 and .50, 1-32 and 1-48 twist, straight wws with liquid alox or LBT soft blue and using 777, easy to load and decent accuracy, at least with open sights and my 66 year old eyes, 2" + - at 50 yds, plenty good for a pig or deer.

Maxi-balls shoot great in the .50 and .54 Knight MK-85's I've shot. I think you'll be fine if you can handle something that will load a lot easier than a sabot.:-D
