Beeswax was obtained from these folks for the Big Melt. Highly graded stuff.

I looked on the Dadent website. They show yellow and white beeswax. And it seems that the white is more refined and more expensive.
Do you gain anything by using the white instead of the yellow ?

Consistency gains you nothing more than batch to batch uniformity. But why do that? Half the fun is seeing what you get and how that one performs compared to the previous batch. Yellow beeswax has not been bleached, but not all "white" batches are bleached. Some bees just excrete white crap. ... felix

He is in Mira Loma, CA and has no bids yet. Hey Buckshot, is that near you? :) BTW, doesn't this wax look like the stuff Mr. Williams was selling a year or so ago? I wonder if it is coming from the same stash!

I e-mailed lar45 about this auction yesterday, I know he was looking for another big wax hit, no word yet. I'm sure he'd share. :-D

The stuff we were buying a year or so ago was supposed to be WWII Navy surplus and the stuff on ebay says "imported".

Hi, thanks for the tip on this. I am starting to run low. I still have 300#ish that needs to be filtered before I can use it. Anything with dirt in it goes in a bucket for candles or whatever. I don't want to take the chance of makeing an abrasive lube to send out to everyone. Most of it is twigs, grass and bugs.
I emailed him about shipping on all or part of it. $1 per pound is a great price, shipping might be as much as the wax.
Yes, I'm all about sharing.
I'll have to see what the shipping cost is, then check with the finacial manager.

Too bad this isn't within driving distance for someone; his ad sounds pretty adamant that it is for "pickup only". Guess he just doesn't want the hassle of packing and shipping. I would think freight rate on 2000 pounds wouldn't be much per pound.

I know I have a lot to learn but when I accumulated approx. 75 # of beeswax I was sure I had enough to last at least 2 lifetimes based on the fact that most recipes call for no more than 50% beeswax. Unless I'm lubing 105mm howitzer projectiles, how could I need that much beeswax?

Alamo, most reloaders are bargin hunters.. ever seen a reloader at the range? Ever seen his face? No, because he is walking head down looking for brass... any brass with a primer! Same with this bees wax, the price is right, in other words, it is a bargin!

Dan, Understood. Right now I'm fixated on WW, given all the doomsday prediction on the unavailability in the future. I've managed to develop a source that, I hope, turns into a reliable supply. This tire store is in the middle of several trucking terminals and has service trucks on Interstate 40 24/7.
