Anyone ever tried using a 3' Easy Heat Braided Tape, pipe heater to heat thier lyman 450?

Problem with the one you have is that it has a built in thermostat where the line cord meets the heating section. The specs say it comes on at 38 and off at 45 degrees.

You may be better using the Frostex brand. It is sold by the foot; a little more costly, but may not be bad for only a few feet. Last I looked it was about $3 a foot, plus the cost of a plug kit (not a regular plug and read the assembly instructions as it isn't a typical wiring job).

Look for a heat tape that has no thermostat. (The Frostex has no thermostat, but is somewhat "self regulating" to temp conditions. It may work at room temp.)
