Welcome alping45, to the forum.
I have never seen a problem in the .45 or .38. Maybe because I hold those to about 900+/- 100. I've seen the leading with the .44 and the 9mm. The 9mm leading was caused by over-crimping. I could pull ten boolits and measure them and they would measure .354-.355. I had an incident earlier that scared me. A friend that had been loading for a while gave me some bullets that he had loaded, one of those bullets came apart when I racked the slide to clear the weapon. When I started reloading, I cranked as much crimp (taper or roll) as I could do without deforming the overall cartridge. I now separate brass headstamps and crimp enough to hold the boolit in place, nothing more!
This experience helped with the .44 too. Ultimately, the lube change is what fixed up my .44. I was using a variety of homemade lubricants and found that Lar's White Label (scroll down to bottom of page) Carnuba Red did better than my homemade stuff did.

Want more leading - use more powder.
